Windows Storage Server 2008 and the Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.2

I am glad to share that Windows Storage Server 2008 (WSS 2008) and the Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.2 have been released to the Microsoft OEM partners. Restoring Files with Backup and Restore in Windows 7

Following my Backup and Restore in Windows 7 - What it should have been in Vista! article, I would like to walk you through the steps needed to restore files or folders from a previous backup created by the new Windows 7 Backup and Restore tool. In Windows 7 (currently in beta phase, build 7000), the Vista’s Backup Status and Configuration tool is replaced by a tool called “Backup and Restore”. You can access it by going to the Control Panel and typing “backup” in the search box. One of the results will lead you to it. You... [Lire la suite]

Windows 7 Backup & Restore - What it should have been in Vista!

In Windows Vista, the Backup Status and Configuration tool was the place where one could (or at least try to) backup pictures, music, media and documents on their Vista computer. However, it seems Vista’s designers have made every effort possible to make the backup tool as un-configurable as possible; even preventing us from choosing exactly which file or folder we want to backup. Instead, the Backup Status and Configuration tool will only allow us to select what GENERAL file type we want to backup, not its location. Read my article... [Lire la suite]

VMware Converter 4 – Linux Migration Issue

I have been performing a fair few P2Vs recently and came across an interesting issue with VMware vCenter Converter v4.0.0 Build 146302 when virtualising a Redhat 4 server over to our ESX environment. I’m adding it here as something to keep an eye out for as its not visible straight away so please double check this after your linux migrations. The issue we had was that after a successful migration through the converter wizard we were unable to access some of our websites hosted on the linux server, I raised this with VMware and...
