Tintri – VMs without LUNs are happier?

had to stay away from technology after being overwhelmed at VMworld last week. Now that I am back to senses, I had to point out the coolest tool that I saw at VMworld. Tintri blew me away from the get go. They were very professional all along the process. They contacted me before the conference to setup an appointment and scheduled  demo for me while I was there. This one was important as Duncan himself spoke very highly of the product. I was in for a surprise. Not really being a storage guy myself,... [Lire la suite]

Optimize Storage vMotion and VM deploy with VAAI

In this article we will look in some detail at the new features for offloading storage workloads to the SAN array. This is called VAAI – vStorage APIs for Array Integration and enables the ESXi host to hand over some work to the SAN which the SAN array might be best at doing. VAAI was introduced in vSphere 4.1 and had three offload features, called primitives, and in 5.0 another option was added for VMFS. We access the VMFS file system by block based methods, i.e. Fibre Channel or iSCSI and as we shall see this... [Lire la suite]

Use the Power of Excel Pivot Tables to analyze attacks and session distribution

Usually we’re using tools like Network Monitor, various text file parser, Procmon, Windbg… to solve ISA/TMG cases every day in and out in Microsoft Customer Service & Support. Sometimes we also use Excel to be able to filter the exported Firewall or Web Proxy Logs our customers send to us, e.g. only display traffic for a specific Client IP or for a specific rule. Some time ago I realized that there’s another quite powerful feature of Excel, which I didn’t connect with analyzing network traffic before, but more with things like...

The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you.”   Après quelques recherches, je confirme, ADMT n’a pas beaucoup changé. Pour... [Lire la suite]

Changing Outlook Web App 2010 Timeout Values… A question I got today by email is to list the steps to change the OWA

A question I got today by email is to list the steps to change the OWA 2010 timeout values. The exchange admin who had sent me the email knows that when a user selects “public computer” in the OWA session, the timeout is 15 minutes by default and 8 hours if “private computer” is selected. He wanted to change the public timeout to be 8 hours as well. Though it is not recommended to have long timeouts for public sessions, below are the steps. To make any changes to the OWA 2010 timeout (public or private), it is a registry edit on the... [Lire la suite]
