Trilead has released version 4.1 of its backup solution for Virtual Machines VM Explorer. VM Explorer Backups can be stored on ESX, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD based storage platforms or directly to a SAN. Complete guide on configuring KEMP VLM load balancer for Exchange 2013

Introduction Since Exchange Server 2013 reached RTM the 11th of October, and finally it was published to MSDN the 24th of October. This post is based on the RTM version of Exchange 2013. For illustrating my lab... [Lire la suite]

Samba 4 released, brings Free alternative to Active Directory

The long wait is over — the Samba project has announced the release of an Active Directory-compatible domain controller. No longer does having an Active Directory (AD) domain controller on a network automatically mean that, somewhere in the building, a Microsoft server is lurking. Today's release announcement of Samba 4.0 means that it is now possible to control an AD domain from a non-Windows system. "Samba 4.0 comprises an LDAP directory server, Heimdal Kerberos authentication server, a secure Dynamic DNS server, and... [Lire la suite]

Everything you want to know about Network Teaming in Windows Server 2012

I was recently given a pointer to the following document: Windows Server 2012 NIC Teaming (LBFO) Deployment and Management It is a very comprehensive guide to setting up network teaming in Windows Server 2012, and discusses many of the common questions that I hear about network teaming (it also discusses network teaming an Hyper-V at length). Q: Is it true you can't disable User Access Control (UAC) in Windows 8?

A: User Access Control is a key technology in the later Windows OSs, including Windows 8. It helps limit normal privileges available during a logon session for privileged users, such as an administrator. It was originally introduced in Windows Vista and prompted users frequently when elevation of privileges was required. The number of prompts was reduced in Windows 7 with a more flexible level of control of the level of prompting in the User Accounts control panel applet, via the Change User Account Control...
