Hyper-V over SMB – Sample Configurations
This post describes a few different Hyper-V over SMB sample configurations with increasing levels of availability. Not all configurations are recommended for production deployment, since some do not provide continuous availability. The goal of the post is to show how one can add redundancy, Storage Spaces and Failover Clustering in different ways to provide additional fault tolerance to the configuration.

Top 5 Windows 8 Enterprise Features
I've already written a fair amount about Windows 8 and my experiences with Microsoft's latest client OS, and have presented some reasons why you should and shouldn't deploy it. Of all the various editions of Windows 8, the one that admins should be most concerned about is Windows 8 Enterprise, the volume-licensed version of Windows 8 that most organizations with more than five PCs will likely deploy. If you want to deploy Windows 8 Enterprise, you'll also need to be a Microsoft Software Assurance (SA)

VMware Mirage Cool Video
VMware Mirage is one of my products I’m interested in since a couple of months. Since the acquisition of Vanova by VMware, the product has been updated and improved by VMware. La baie de stockage FAS 2240 est aujourd'hui l'entrée de gamme de NetAPP en OS 64 bits. La machine se présente sous la forme d’un tiroir 2u disposant de 24 emplacements pour disque SAS 2.5 pouces ici de provenance Hitachi 10k et d’une volumétrie unitaire de 450 Go. l'OS Data ONTAP utilisé ici est la toute dernière version r8.2.2.

Awesome appliance, vCenter Support Assistant
Today an awesome appliance called the vCenter Support Assistant was made available to the world. I have seen some screenshots and a demo and feel that this appliance is a MUST HAVE for anyone who files Support Requests. Just the fact that you can do that from a single interface, which also allows you to upload the support bundle just makes life a whole lot easier.

Storage vMotion does not rename files?
A while back I posted that 5.0 U2 re-introduced the renaming behavior for VM file names. I was just informed by our excellent Support Team that unfortunately the release notes missed something crucial and Storage vMotion does not rename files by default. In order to get the renaming behavior you will have to set an advanced setting within vCenter.. This is how you do it:
Go to “Administration”
Click on “vCenter Server Settings”
Click “Advanced Settings”
