vCenter Certificate Automation Tool – Now Available

With the release of vCenter 5.1 adding additional certificates into the environment to make communication between components more secure, the process of updating these certificates with customers’ own signed certificates has been a challenge. We are pleased to announce the general availability of vCenter Certificate Automation Tool 1.0. This tool provides an automated mechanism to replace certificates in the following components of the vCenter Server 5.1 management platform:   The tool is available now and can... VMware Horizon View Features Pack 1.0 – what it brings and what’s it’s good for?

VMware Horizon View Features Pack 1.0 was the missing piece of software that I recently pointed out after the Horizon View release. The features pack was missing initially when Horizon View was released few weeks back.  In fact the real name is Horizon View Features Pack 1.0 and has 2 main components: HTML Access Web Portal installer - this part installs on the View connection server and it’s this component which enables the access of virtual desktops via HTML 5 compatible browser.... Guacamole – HTML5 Clientless Remote Desktop

Guacamole is an HTML 5 web application which enables you to access remote desktop via browser. It’s a HTML5 Clientless Remote Desktop web application. There are no plugins or software needed on the client side and that’s the principal advantage over traditional remote access solution. Guacamole uses HTTP or HTTPS protocols only, so it’s ideal when wanting to access from the outside world protected by corporate firewall. No other ports are necessary. Guacamole supports the main versions of Linux. Distributions like... [Lire la suite]

Securing Horizon View 5.2 Deployments

In this blog post I cover the most common tasks in securing your VMware Horizon View deployment. Although the main objective is to provide a secure environment for your users to connect to, you should consider each suggestion relative to user productivity. You do not want to lock down the environment so much that your end users become unproductive and cannot get their daily tasks accomplished while using the environment. After you have deployed VMware Horizon View internally as a proof of concept, and your users love it, you want to... [Lire la suite]

The Unofficial VMware Visio Stencils

The VMware Visio Stencils I have created are by far the most popular post on my blog. Over the past few years I have posted a three versions over the years since they were released. I decided last week that it was time to create a dedicated page that would hold the most up to date version and not to have them spread out all across my blog. Therefore from now all the old versions will now redirect to this page. Why "The Unofficial VMware Visio Stencils"? That is because they are not prepared by VMware, but... Get Your NFR License

ne of the great joys in studying and taking an exam for me is that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction I get when all the hard work and effort pays off with a successful pass. Over the last few years there has been an added benefit to becoming certified in various technologies. Many companies now offer those holding certifications access to NFR (not for resale) licenses of their products to test either in your home lab or a lab at work. I believe that Veeam was one of the first to offer this benefit, and since then several... [Lire la suite]

A KB list to keep in mind for your DirectAccess projects

Even if DirectAccess is now much more easier to deploy with Windows Server 2012, there still have some “cases” where Microsoft help is required. Jason Jones (Former Forefront MVP) updated his “Hot list” recently. Keep a bookmark on this list. This can save a lot of time during your next DirectAccess deployment --> Please see the rest on the blog : http://danstoncloud.com/blogs/simplebydesign/archive/2013/04/04/a-kb-list-to-keep-in-mind-for-your-directaccess-projects.aspx
