Microsoft Volume Activation Management Toolkit v3 (VAMT 3): Improvements and Installation

Microsoft’s free Volume Activation Management Toolkit (VAMT) helps administrators manage licensing on computers in their organization. Administrators can use the VAMT to update licenses and activate Office and Operating Systems on clients and servers. VAMT version 3 performs all of the operations that VAMT version 2 did while adding new features. Christian Mohn wrote about VAMT 2 and described its usage in his article, "License & Activation Management with Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT)." If you haven’t used the VAMT... vSphere Data Protection (VDP) – install, configure, manage

vSphere Data protection – a quick guide how to deploy and use vSphere Data Protection is a new backup product, which does not bring an additional cost, but it’s included in vSphere Essentials Plus and higher VMware vSphere package. The product is based on EMC’s Avamar code and present an interesting upgrade for existing customers which are upgrading from vSphere 4.x where vSphere Data Protection (VDP) was bundled. But to transition from VDR to VDP….? Strangely there is nothing provided. I would imagine having a tool which could...

HOW TO: P2V a domain controller

A lot has been written about P2V’ing Windows Domain controllers. The preferred way is to build a new domain controller based on a virtual machine and demote the physical domain controller. Rebuilding a new domain controllers may not always be possible due to time constraints or other dependencies like additional software running on the domain controller which can not be easily migrated. However, P2V’ing of a domain controller is possible under the right conditions. These conditions are the same for any other transactional service... [Lire la suite]
