Turn Off Internet Access To Exchange 2013 EAC

With Exchange 2013 administration moving to browser based, you can manage your Exchange 2013 environment from anywhere in the world, provided that they are published. How can we switch off access from outside the corporate network?   You can manage your 2013 environment with EAC internally by navigating to https://casserver/ecp or https://loadbalancedurl/ecp if you have an NLB or load balancer in place. Your external webmail url (https://mail.domain.com) can be used to access the EAC (with /ecp) from outside the corporate...

Publishing Exchange Server 2013 using TMG

Now that Exchange Server 2013 is available, some of you may well be wondering how to publish it to the Internet using Microsoft Threat Management Gateway (TMG) or perhaps the Microsoft Unified Access Gateway (UAG). This post will help you configure TMG, for sure, but not UAG – as for the time being, you can’t effectively publish Exchange Server 2013 using UAG without turning off many of the security features in UAG. Why’s that? Well, as you’ll have gathered from other posts on this fine blog, we re-wrote OWA for Exchange 2013. And... [Lire la suite]

MailboxGuid @ SMTP Domain Is The New Endpoint In Outlook For Exchange 2013 Mailboxes

All Exchange admins are so used to seeing the name of the server / fqdn of the VIP in the server entry of the outlook profile. That is a thing of the past in Exchange 2013!   The server entry or the connection endpoint for Outlook 2007+ clients which connects to an Exchange 2013 mailbox is the “mailbox guid @ the primary smtp address of the user”. Let me explain the new concept with an example. My mailbox has a primary smtp address of Rajith@Exchangemaster.me and the server entryin my outlook profile is as shown below. This... [Lire la suite]

How to tackle the default database in Exchange 2013

The steps are the same, as in the 2010 world.   As in Exchange 2010, installation of 2013 Mailbox role creates a new mailbox database with a name “Mailbox Database *”, where * represents a long number. Exchange administrators prefer to follow a naming convention and keep things clean. Easiest will be to rename the default database to something that suits your naming convention. Click the Edit button and rename the database & hit the Save button. --> Please see the rest on the blog...

Lync 2013 Basic Client

Microsoft has released a standalone client for Lync 2013, similar to Lync 2010. But the client is basic in the feature set as the name suggests.   The full Lync 2013 client comes bundled with the Office 2013 suite. The standalone Lync 2013 Basic client gives IM, audio & video calls, online meetings, availability (presence) information and sharing capabilities. It’s a slimmer version of the full Lync 2013 client and provides the same core functionality. --> Please see the rest on the blog... [Lire la suite]

Admin Tools Retired In Exchange Server 2013

Many admin tools that we know & love in Exchange 2010 has been retired in 2013, including the “famous” Exchange Best Practice Analyzer.   You should be familiar by now that Exchange Administration Centre is the new EMC & ECP combined. Exchange 2013 only has the toolbox as part of the management console. What is wrong with this picture? Some of our admin tools didn’t make it to Exchange 2013 including BPA and Routing Log Viewer. --> Please see the rest on the blog... [Lire la suite]
