VMware introduced support for iSCSI back in the ESX 3.x days. However, ESX could only boot from an iSCSI LUN if a hardware iSCSI adapter was used. Deux chercheurs de la firme de sécurité russe ont publié leurs découvertes sur une nouvelle version d’un vénérable botnet. Le malware incriminé serait le plus sophistiqué du moment. The new Microsoft iSCSI Software Target 3.3 is commonly deployed to provide data storage for servers that boot from a local hard drive. However, there are interesting cost savings and management advantages in deploying servers that have no local disk at all and get their syste and boot volumes from the iSCSI target.
