VMware Horizon View 5.2 Feature Pack 2 released

VMware Horizon View 5.2 Feature Pack 2 includes the following new features: Flash URL Redirection - Customers can now use Adobe Media Server and multicast to deliver live video events in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment. To deliver multicast live video streams within a VDI environment, the media stream should be sent directly from the media source to the endpoints, bypassing the virtual desktops. The Flash URL Redirection feature supports this capability by intercepting and redirecting the ShockWave Flash... [Lire la suite]

The awesome 8th feature of Veeam B&R v7: ‘Backup copy job’

So Veeam B&R v7 has been announced. For me, the 7 pre-announced features (support for vCloud Director, vSphere Web Client, the Veeam Explorer for Sharepoint, Virtual Lab for Hyper-V and replicas, archive to tape and finally self-service 1-click restore) are good enhancements to the product, but not earth shattering. There are, however, two features that you could call just that. In this three-part blog post, I’ll dive into each of them while also shedding some light on the licensing and offering my own insights and conclusion. Let... [Lire la suite]

VMware Horizon View Features Pack 1.0 – what it brings and what’s it’s good for?

VMware Horizon View Features Pack 1.0 was the missing piece of software that I recently pointed out after the Horizon View release. The features pack was missing initially when Horizon View was released few weeks back.  In fact the real name is Horizon View Features Pack 1.0 and has 2 main components: HTML Access Web Portal installer - this part installs on the View connection server and it’s this component which enables the access of virtual desktops via HTML 5 compatible browser.... vCenter Server 5.1.0b released

I was doing some testing with vCenter Server 5.1.0b this Wednesday and Thursday and just noticed it was released today. Those who were experiencing time-out issues with the web client or were unable to login to the web client using a non-standard UPN as an AD user will want to check this release out. Full release notes can be found here. I did the upgrade using the upgrade repository iso: VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance- Very useful if you do not have direct access to the internet from your vCenter... [Lire la suite]

Using the Account Lockout Feature in TMG 2010

A much needed feature was added in Service Pack 2 for Forefront TMG 2010. This great new feature gives you the ability to lock accounts on TMG at the local level before accounts are actually locked out in the domain. The account lockout feature, when used properly, will prevent TMG from trying to authenticate a user to a Domain Controller after the defined number of bad passwords has been attempted. In one of my previous blogs I talked about scenarios where TMG is being used as a reverse proxy and the Account Lockout Threshold has... [Lire la suite]

Comparison of Outlook 2010, OWA 2010 and Outlook 2011 Features

With the recent release of Office 2011 for the Mac, Outlook makes a welcome return, spearheading the way toward full feature parity between Outlook on Windows and Mac. Finally, will your Mac users will be able to do everything their Windows counterparts can? Is Outlook 2011 for Mac just an improvement on Entourage 2008 EWS edition, and will Mac users need something like VMware Fusion plus Outlook 2010 to gain all the features they need for full interoperability with Exchange? And with OWA becoming truly cross-platform, does this... [Lire la suite]
