Avec ses équilibreurs de charge qui supportent l’hyperviseur KVM, Kemp Technologies veut séduire le monde Linux, les hébergeurs et le cloud. Release: VMware vCenter Multi-Hypervisor Manager 1.0

VMware has released version 1.0 of its vCenter Multi-Hypervisor Manager, an optional module which is capable of managing the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor from vCenter. While vCenter markets the product as a Multi-Hypervisor product this version clearly targets Microsoft because it only supports the Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 and Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 hypervisors at this time. It’s not clear if VMware is planning to support Windows Server 2012 which contains Hyper-V 3.0 or the Xen Hypervisor any time soon. Microsoft also... [Lire la suite]

Compacting Virtual Hard Disks in Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012

Recently the “Ask the Core Team” blog did a great post about compacting a dynamically expanding virtual hard disk in Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012. You should check out their full post for the details, but the summary is that you now need to manually mount the virtual hard disks in the management operating system prior to trying to compact it. This is something that we used to do automatically for you – but we had reports of problems when we were attaching and removing virtual hard disks when the system administrator was not... Oracle announces Oracle VM Server for x86 Release 3.1

Virtual machine software really must be seen as an enabler rather than as a solution in its own right. Customers really need to examine the whole environment to select the hypervisor that is best for them. Oracle recently released an update to VM Server for X86.
