Google facilitates self-service IT with private Play Store channel

Google Apps for Business, Education, or Government customers can set up a Private Channel on the Play Store to distribute internal apps to users.

Google has launched a private Play Store channel for companies to easily deploy Android-based apps internally to end-users.

The Google Play Store typically contains Android apps and games created by third-party developers. The Play Store private channel will allow users within an organisation to download apps that are made by their own company for internal use. An operation that, until now, was only possible via side-loading of apps.

"Whether you've built a custom expense reporting app for employees or a conference room finder, the Google Play Private Channel is designed to make your organisation's internal apps quick and easy for employees to find," Google Product Manager Ellie Powers said in a blog post.
